In 2018 the University of Arizona chapter of Kappa Sigma lost its recognition from the university due to several issues with the chapter.

The fraternity was previously under investigation for conflicts regarding alcohol. According to AZCentral.com, “Fraternity members assaulted people hired to provide event security, the university said. It also created a “slush fund” to hide activities from the school.”

The chapter was shut down immediately and is allowed to petition to be reinstated by the national chapter in May 2023, assuming old members are present when this is done.
